Our sons now have another great community of people in their lives - Jacob Propst and all the people who are members of Consecution Jiu-Jitsu. Our sons have been members since September, 2017. I absolutely loved how welcoming everyone was from the very first lesson. I am starting out in pretty bad shape, but everyone was very supportive and helpful. I finally found a place I am comfortable working out and learning something new and fun at the same time.

Started taking my daughter here a month ago and already the change in my shy little girl is astounding! Jacob has a great mix of fun and discipline in his kids class which makes for a great time. I decided to take my first adult class a few weeks ago simply as a work out but quickly got lost in both the mental and physical aspect of each class. Jacob pushes you to know your limits and try to surpass them but doesn't ever make you feel bad for letting those limits stop you either. The entire group of people changes with each class and yet all of them have been welcoming and patient. Cannot recommend the entire place enough.

Do I need to know jiu-jitsu or Judo to study Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

No, you don’t. There are beginner classes available and many of the people who study Brazilian Jiu Jitsu have no prior martial arts training.

Do I need any special equipment to study Brazilian Martial Arts?

Students typically wear a Gi (two-piece garment worn by martial artists.) It is also typical for some students may want to wear a mouth guard. It’s a good idea to have a supply of athletic tape, as well.

As a beginner, do I need to spar?

No. Beginner classes focus on teaching basic techniques and safety, and you can then work your way up to controlled sparring in class.

Can Brazilian Jiu Jitsu help me defend myself?
